Astride the chasm between two worlds, Willow once again defies the forces of Light and Dark. Enduring the hell he did for three years in that camp, he felt he was going to break, but he still held on.
He's a sweet boy with a huge heart and a love for animals. And full of hugs and cuddles. Mack was homeschooled and insulated from everything that didn't involve survivalist stuff. When he was caught with gay paraphernalia, he endured his own torture at home from his father.
Then turned into the camp. But he's smart. And knowledgeable. He's innocent and naive, but pure of heart. Austin didn't have it as hard at home. He and his father were buddies, but a jackass had to betray him and away he went. He's sweet in his own way. A survivor.
Big guy with a big heart. He's smart and gentle. These three are trying to do all they can to survive and figure out what the hell is up. And I adore all three. They have their own strengths and weaknesses but their hearts are just Golden. Of course, they are scared witless. I mean big ugly spider things killing tons of people and alien races following behind. Yeah, I'd be freaking too. And did lol. But it's an interesting journey to read. Especially if you have a bit of sci-fi lover in you. It's a page Turner. Give it a whirl! Oct 30, Angie rated it really liked it. I love Sci-Fi and this really fit that bill.
Think alien invasion and all the tactics that could be used by our visitors and all the survivalist plans needed to evade and persist while on the run. On top of all that, we also have a dystopian type setting of a futuristic USA that has broken off into separate countries, some of which have declared war on the gay population- forcing them into hiding or, worse, internment camps.
I really loved the characters. I love that we meet Tan and Austin right off the bat. They are in a not so good situation and team up to survive. Along the way, they meet Mack who has a bunch of important knowledge and seems to be low risk so they have him join their duo. I liked that each character has their role, it helped forge a good dynamic for a relationship.
This book has a few trigger warnings which are displayed at the front of the book. I feel like it was a nice place to end the first book. I also want to state that the romance is very minimal. I wanted more details but I assume we will be getting more in future installments and in a weird, masochistic way I kind of like that we are left out of the loop as much as the MCs.
I cannot wait for book 2. Oct 30, ML rated it it was amazing. Love in a dystopian environment This is a great start to a new series. The main characters Tan,Austin and Mack escape the camp they are being held in with their lives. This is their story of survival. These 3 go through a lot. This is a really fast paced book and I read it WAY too fast! Now I really want book 2!!
Jun 22, Daisy rated it really liked it. An MMM dystopia book? Yes please! The romance is super slow but I find I do not mind, there is so much going on and the slow burn fits the story. Does anyone have any info on book 2? Apr 07, Kei rated it liked it. Count me as intrigued. I need much more to make an accurate assessment.

Nov 29, LostForReal rated it really liked it. This seems like quite a step in the right direction. And of course, yes, the book was good, I enjoyed it. So there are two things I only want to mention - not briefly but really expand upon them. I dont feel like it. There are actually a lot of them. That I know something about, because MM romances are so often full of struggle on the grounds of being MM, that there is not that much of anything else.
Writing MM usually gives the author enough problems and obstacles that not many things have to included and even if this is not the main problem, there are still, a lot of them, contemporary. Not such a fan of that. Alas, the only contemporary I can enjoy these days is of the MM character And even that So this is what, for me, is "missing". Not more books but more variety. I have so far encountered some nice detective, police or military setting stuff.
And paranormal MM dystopia? MMM dystopia? Oh my Now this is something out of the ordinary. By the way, I can totally see all those pretty states united by their liberalism, how they divide and there would be a part where all -phobes can live together united in their set ways and -isms. Second is the review part. How was the book? Well, I started browsing my collection and, to my shock, I stuck with my first choice and was more than happy with it! There was action, interesting aliens, some conflicts - both internal and more literal ones.
It was well-paced, well-thought-through, the characters were interesting I can have some issues with crying and traumatized characters if they are not made right and this was not the case, it was human and normal, not let-s-squeeze-some-sympathy-out-of-the-reader. The explicitness was on the lowe and it was refreshing. The guys were definitely old enough and this is not for younger audience with the aliens and killing and everything so this is a nice change, like as if it was straight novel and you had the innocent heroine character that could still blush at the first kiss.
That was nice. The only thing I minded was the sad parts. Obviously, this was very tragic in every aspect - the boys were abused, their families deserted them with one exception , they were in a camp with an inhuman environment, aliens have come to kill humans, they have killing robots and people are nasty to each other I am not good with these things. They make me so sad it can make it hard to It was not that heavy, I have read worse but it was still A lot of sadness, it had.
But the guys Their relationships were a great contrast even if it sometimes just pointed out how much their lives sucked. I could do with a little less of the heavy stuff, I think. Not because I am not aware or unfeeling but because I am a little on the sensitive side and even some lighter stuff gets a little too deep for me. And reading. And liking it. In the vein of War of the Worlds and Jericho, Ignite is a tension-filled, sci-fi thriller that deals with the lives of three very different young men, who are brought together by a series of catastrophic events. Austin, Tan and Mack live in the Conservat In the vein of War of the Worlds and Jericho, Ignite is a tension-filled, sci-fi thriller that deals with the lives of three very different young men, who are brought together by a series of catastrophic events. It is during an attempted assault that Austin, Tan and Mack are able to kill their guards and escape, when the staff is distracted by a meteorite shower that has knocked out all electricity and disabled all vehicles.
Though Austin and Tan have been best friends for a long time during their imprisonment, they accept Mack into their group when they realize that Mack has quite a lot of knowledge and survival skills, which become pointedly necessary when the reason behind the meteor shower becomes terrifyingly evident.
All over the country, humans are being attacked by alien machines, and without much to go on, Austin, Tan and Mack decide to escape to Nevada, where they hope to be safe from persecution and regroup with other people who may have more information about the alien invasion. Each young man has to come to terms with what their new reality has brought them, how to connect with their fellow survivors, how to be beneficial to their group and how to deal with their fears and anxieties, as well with their burgeoning romantic feelings for each other.
Where to find Jamie Magee online
Tan, a beautiful, waifish man, has to deal with his feelings of inferiority, as he deems himself the weakest link in the group, physically, as well as the trauma of being exploited by the guards at the camp, who forced him into sexual servitude in order to survive. Austin, strong and capable, has to deal with his love for Tan, a love which he feels unworthy of, since he couldn't protect his friend from abuse.
And Mack, who having been raised in a religious compound, knows nothing positive about being gay, and is afraid of what being in a relationship with his fellow survivors might bring about, and fears that it is only because of his survivals skills that he is allowed to stay with them. Their relationships and feelings develop and interactions are explored and evolve through the book, as they continue their trek to salvation. The story is engaging and fast paced, with a few surprises, although it is the first book, so there is no resolution.
I expect the action and surprises will continue in the next installment, as well as the scorching romantic tension among the three men. Nov 01, Phoenix13 rated it it was amazing. As always it is well written, with in depth plot and development, awesome characters and an intriguing storyline. They need the slow build up, the friends first, the comfort level-it just works. I mention this becomes its sometimes a miss in books but not here! I also absolutely love that there are some thought-provoking situations and messages too-that have unfortunately and frighteningly realistic roots in things going on in the US right now.
Well, I actually hate that there is a necessity for these things to be thought about, but there sadly is! Overall, an amazing book from an amazing author. Oct 31, Nese rated it it was amazing. What an exciting opening to what promises to be an amazing series. This story captured my attention from the first chapter, and as it developed l found myself reading faster and faster. Trying to survive daily, while being subjected to brutality, and sexual abuse.

What they saw as a meteorite shower turns out to be an alien invasion. As a war to take over the world rages all around them by the invading robot spiders Austin, Tan and Mack have to survive. They need to find food to stay alive, they need to stay under the radar of the spider bots, and any other people that would steal or kill to survive. As the world descends into a dog eat dog scenario, they will need to find a way to get information.
The invaders have stripped them of all and every power sources. Between them Austin, Tan and Mack struggle to survive in an apocalyptic world while learning to lean on each other, and finding comfort in each other. This was such a thrilling read, l'm looking forward to what more the author will put the world through.
